The Bachelor of Management study program at STIE Perbanas Surabaya held a Guest Lecture again. This time, the speaker who was presented was a Head of Public Relations of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), Bur Budiantoro. Located in the Auditorium Campus 1 of STIE Perbanas Surabaya, this guest lecture was attended by all students taking courses in Banking and Financial Institutions. With the theme "The Role of the LPS in Maintaining the Stability of the Indonesian Banking System", this lecture lasted for approximately two hours on Thursday, April 11 2019.

In front of the students, Nur Budiantoro explained the history of the establishment of the LPS. In 1993, LPS was first established in the United States by its president named Franklin Roosevelt. Currently, more than 100 countries have deposit insurance programs. LPS and other similar institutions from various countries in the world are joining an association of international deposit insurance agencies, namely "International Associations of Deposit Insurers". "The incident in 1998, the monetary and banking crisis occurred in Indonesia, it was marked by the liquidation of 16 banks which resulted in a decrease in the level of public confidence in the banking system," he explained.

Furthermore, Nur Budiantoro explained that the increase in the number of LPS was inseparable from the tendency of the increasing number of banks failing to operate. Then, to overcome the crisis that occurred, the government issued several policies, one of which was to provide guarantees for all bank payment obligations, including public savings (blanket guarantee). ).

Then, in order to continue to create a sense of security for depositors and to maintain the stability of the banking system, the deposit guarantee program has a very broad scope. So since September 22, 2005, LPS in Indonesia began operating. The impact is also visible, namely the improving national economy and increasing public trust in banks. "Every bank running business in the territory of the Republic of Indonesia is obliged to become a participant in the LPS guarantor, including branch offices of foreign banks," he explained.

Before ending the lecture, his party also provided information about the total assets of LPS in Indonesia. "Total Total Assets of LPS 2017 is Rp. 88.0 trillion and its financial performance was a surplus before tax of Rp. 14.9 trillion, "he concluded. (Denta.r)
