Perbanas Accounting Graduates Will Be Provided with a CMA Certificate
The importance of professional certification to increase competitiveness in the free market of the ASEAN Economic Community (MEA), STIE Perbanas Surabaya in collaboration with the Center Of SMART, the Indonesian Accountants Association (IAI), and The Institute of Certified Management Accountants (ICMA) held a Certificate of Profeciency in Performance event Measurement and Valuation.
Taking place at Campus 2 STIE Perbanas Surabaya, the event was intended to equip graduates, especially accounting graduates, to gain an understanding of the accounting profession certificate. The event, which was attended by a number of participants from final semester Bachelor of Accountancy students, accounting graduates, accounting lecturers, to the general public from within and outside the country, took place on Tuesday-Wednesday (14-15 / 2). There were 31 participants, some of them came from Timor Leste. This accountant professional certification is almost the same as the basic accounting competency certification issued by IAI, but the scale of recognition is wider because it is international. The reason is, this non-degree certification is issued directly by The Institute of Certified Management Accountants (ICMA), Australia.
On the first day, the speaker who gave the material was Dr. Intiyas Utami, SE., M.Si., Ak., C.A., C.M.A., Q.I.A., (Director Center of SMART, Regional Central Java) and Dr. Nanang Shondhaji, SE., M.Si., Ak., C.A., C.M.A. (Accounting Lecturer at STIE Perbanas Surabaya). Meanwhile, on the second day, the CEO of ICMA Australia, Prof. Janek Ratnatunga DipM Uk., M.B.A., Ph.D., Bradford UK., F.C.A., C.P.A., C.M.A. conveyed the deepening of material related to Magamenet Accounting certificates that can be owned by the accounting profession in Indonesia. On this occasion, Prof. Janek delivered a number of materials, including: Project Financing: Cost of Capital, Advanced Project Evaluation using CAPM Techniques, Risk Evaluation and Management, International Project Management, Exchange and Political Risk Management, Project Implementation, and Change Management.
Head of the Bachelor of Accounting study program, Dr. Luciana Spica Almilia, SE., M.Sc., explained that this activity aims to equip accounting graduates of STIE Perbanas Surabaya to have non-degree certificates in the field of Management Accounting. "It is hoped that when students graduate, in addition to getting a diploma, they will have certification or recognition from external parties in the field of Management Accounting," said Luciana.
When a student has graduated, the GPA alone is not enough to get him into the world of work because the GPA is only from within the campus. When there are parties or professional associations outside of tertiary institutions that certify students from each other, it becomes an added value. Therefore, Dr. Luciana explained that the Bachelor of Accounting Study Program has collaborated with SMART (a professional institution in the field of management accounting certification) and The Institute of Certified Management Accountants (ICMA), Australia. "So, this certification is of international level and we have signed an MOU for 3 years for this collaboration," he said.
