Universitas Hayam Wuruk Perbanas collaborated with students from the Thai Global Business Administration Technological College, Thailand, to carry out an International Community Service program. Taking place at Al-Warits Batik in Bangkalan, Madura, East Java, the team engaged in online marketing activities together with the local business owner.

Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Collaboration at UHW Perbanas, Dr. Dra. Lindiawati, M.M., stated that the purpose of this initiative was to enhance online marketing for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) that produce batik fabric in the Bangkalan area. Moreover, the owner of Al-Warits Batik is an alumnus of UHW Perbanas, which was formerly known as STIE Perbanas Surabaya.

“Al-Warits Batik has a unique characteristic compared to other batik products. It features a distinctive aromatherapy scent in the fabric, and this is what we want to introduce to the international students,” explained Lindiawati after the event on Saturday, (November 23, 2024).

In addition, the team also gathered information regarding the challenges faced by the business owner in conducting online marketing. The UHW Perbanas team and the international students proposed several solutions and practical uses of social media for digital marketing activities. The use of online marketplaces and live streaming on social media platforms has been promoted as a way to boost the sales of local batik products and increase their recognition in the global market.

The team members involved in this international community service collaboration included: Dr. Dra. Lindiawati, M.M., Dr. Muazaroh, S.E., M.T., Arif Zeinfiki Djunaedi S.E., M.SE., and Yudha Herlambang Cahya Pratama, S.Kom., M.Kom. Participating international students from Thailand were: Kaung Khant Kyaw, Saw Than Zaw, Thuai Wai Shein, and Kyaw Ye Aung. (eko/pr)
