Get to Know the Career World: SMA Giki 2 Surabaya Students Visit UHW Perbanas

A group of 12th-grade students from SMA Giki 2 Surabaya enthusiastically visited Universitas Hayam Wuruk Perbanas. They were eager to receive insights into career preparation and higher education. The event, titled Career and Workforce Introduction Training, took place in Room C301 at the Wonorejo Campus on Thursday (February 20).The Head of the Diploma 3 Program at UHW Perbanas, Dr. Putri Wulanditya, S.E., M.Ak., personally welcomed the students and their teachers. She expressed her delight in meeting them through this training, which focused on starting a career in the professional world.
"You have made the right choice by coming to UHW Perbanas to gain valuable information and knowledge at the beginning of your career journey. Here, you will learn about what needs to be prepared, how to present yourself, and how to create a proper CV (curriculum vitae). We also have a career center that equips students to be readily absorbed into the workforce," Dr. Putri explained at the start of the session.
She continued by mentioning that in 2024, the Diploma 3 Banking and Finance Program at UHW Perbanas also welcomed students through the 1 Family 1 Graduate Program initiated by the Surabaya City Government. A total of 13 students were admitted, some of whom did not come from business or economics backgrounds, with a few even having studied technical majors in high school.
"They are highly motivated to pursue higher education, so we provide them with the best support. Besides academic studies, these Surabaya students also receive training in ethics, professional appearance, effective communication, and many other essential skills," she added.
Furthermore, Herwin Ardianto, S.Pd., M.M., the Career Center Manager at UHW Perbanas, highlighted several key aspects that students must prepare before entering the workforce. He also shared success stories of UHW Perbanas alumni who have secured careers in state-owned enterprises (BUMN), multinational companies, and even as civil servants (ASN).
"We have alumni from the Diploma 3 program who successfully joined PT KAI (Indonesian Railways Company). So, if you study here, you also have the potential to build a career like UHW Perbanas alumni," he explained.
One of the participants, Edwin Cahyo Wibowo, expressed his keen interest in pursuing higher education after learning that UHW Perbanas alumni had secured jobs at PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI). His dream is to work in that institution.
"Mr. Herwin explained the career paths we could take after graduation. Since I am interested in KAI, I asked about the potential job positions available. He clearly explained opportunities in ticketing management and other areas. So, I am considering enrolling in the Diploma 3 program and pursuing a career at KAI," said Edwin, a 12th-grade student from SMA Giki 2 Surabaya. (eko/pr)
