UHW Perbanas Faculty Team Emphasizes the Importance of Sexual Violence Prevention
The faculty team of Universitas Hayam Wuruk Perbanas is actively engaged in providing socialization and education on the prevention of sexual violence in schools and communities. This initiative aims to raise students' awareness of the dangers of violence and to enhance their understanding of individual rights in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.
The event took place in the auditorium of SMA Ta’miriyah Surabaya on Thursday (20/2). The Head of the UHW Perbanas Faculty Service Team, Chitra Laksmi Rithmaya, S.E., M.M., stated that numerous reports indicate an increase in cases of sexual violence among teenagers, including physical, verbal, and online harassment (cyber harassment).
"We recognize that many students are unaware that certain actions, such as online harassment, fall under the category of sexual violence. Through this activity, we focus on educating them about the definition of sexual violence, its various forms, and its impact on victims and social environments," she explained.
In addition to socialization and education, Chitra revealed that her team has developed a website application to support the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS) in schools. “This PPKS website application can be independently installed by schools, customized according to their respective domains,” she stated.
It is important to note that the website offers features such as information on different forms of sexual violence, PPKS task force agendas, advisory articles on preventing violence, and the impact of sexual harassment.
For reporting activities, victims of violence can access the reporting feature by filling in their identity details. Additionally, they must provide a chronology of the incident along with supporting photo or video evidence. Subsequently, the PPKS Task Force receives the report via email, and the victim also receives a report confirmation via the email registered on the website. (eko/pr)
