A student from the Diploma 3 Banking and Finance Program, Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Hayam Wuruk Perbanas, Ely Jaya Nuriasih, has achieved an outstanding accomplishment. She secured Third Place in the national-level Teller Competition held during the Banker's Day 2024 event, organized by the Diploma 3 Program Student Association of UPN "Veteran" Jakarta in December 2024.

An alumna of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 3 Jember, Ely expressed immense pride and gratitude for this achievement. She was also delighted to have another opportunity to compete in the bustling metropolitan city. “I am so happy to meet old friends who also participated in previous competitions. This is a valuable experience for me, especially being able to bring honor to Universitas Hayam Wuruk Perbanas,” said Ely, as she is affectionately known.

In the competition, Ely had to face participants from prestigious universities across Indonesia. However, only five participants were selected to compete on-site in Jakarta. “The competition was tough, with participants from UPN "Veteran" Jakarta, Universitas Kristen Indonesia, and Universitas Indonesia,” recounted the hijab-wearing student.

According to Ely, the on-site competition involved several stages, including roleplay as a teller, a cash counting session, and a Q&A session with the judges. “In the final results, I secured Third Place,” she shared.

Behind the success of the competition lies a unique and challenging journey. “During my journey to Jakarta, when I reached Semarang, I was informed by the committee that participants were required to bring a faculty advisor. I panicked because I was traveling alone and almost lost hope, fearing I wouldn’t be able to participate in the final,” she recalled.

After receiving encouragement and support from her lecturer, this determined young woman regained her confidence. “I contacted Bu Chitra and the committee, and eventually, I was allowed to compete without an advisor,” she explained.

After her efforts, Ely expressed hopes for a bright future career. “From the experiences I gained during the competition as a customer service representative and teller, I hope they will make it easier for me to secure a job, expand my network, and deepen my knowledge in the banking field,” she concluded.
