Hayam Wuruk Perbanas University received a Partnership-Based Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Development Program Grant in 2023. This achievement is inseparable from the role of UHW Perbanas which routinely provides assistance to MSMEs in Surabaya City and its surroundings. This MSME assistance is implemented through Community Service (PkM) activities carried out by lecturers and students.

Head of the Center for Research and Community Service (PPPM) UHW Perbanas, Dr. Muazaroh, S.E., M.T., said that currently UHW Perbanas was given the trust by the Director General of Higher Education to foster 2 MSMEs in Surabaya City. "The first is Dessert and Chill MSMEs located in Semolowaru. Then the second, Ar-Roya Catering and Cake in Wonorejo Rusunawa," he explained.

Muazaroh continued, each fostered MSME has different treatment according to its problems. For example, the lack of production capacity, marketing limitations, and simple management are carried out by Dessert and Chill MSMEs.

Meanwhile, Ar-Roya Catering and Cake MSMEs also do not understand healthy food products which include food variations, healthy food categories, ingredient composition, processing, packaging and storage. In fact, information management and product marketing are also not well touched.

"We provide solutions to various MSME problems through coaching activities that last for approximately 2 months. The solutions offered include: training to increase the capacity of MSMEs, providing production facilities and infrastructure, developing digital marketing, and managing MSMEs that are integrated with E-Business applications," he detailed.

He also hopes that the end of the coaching activities can improve the quality and quantity of MSMEs in running a business. The impact is to create creativity and innovation from people who run businesses in the MSME sector so that they are supported by related agencies.

"After the coaching provided by the UHW Perbanas lecturer team for the 2 MSMEs, they will be able to upgrade. Initially managed improvisedly, in the future they can utilize the system that we have created and managed according to operational standards to achieve maximum profit," he hoped. (PR)
