Hayam Wuruk Perbanas University (UHW Perbanas) once again welcomed new students under the Local Student Scholarship Program for the year 2023 from Siak Regency, Riau Province. A total of 26 students were accepted into various study programs at the Faculty of Economics and Business, including: Diploma 3 in Accounting, Diploma 3 in Banking and Finance, Bachelor of Management, Bachelor of Accounting, and Bachelor of Sharia Economics. They were officially handed over to UHW Perbanas at the Wonorejo Campus on Thursday (September 14th).
In this handing-over ceremony, the Siak Regency Government was represented by Rahmad, S.I.P., and was directly received by the Rector of UHW Perbanas, Dr. Yudi Sutarso, S.E., M.Si., along with the Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. Dra. Lindiawati, M.M. The Local Student Scholarship Program has been ongoing since 2017, making it the 7th year of implementation. Students enrolled in the Local Student Scholarship Program receive free tuition and living expenses during their studies from the Siak Regency Government.
Dr. Yudi Sutarso, S.E., M.Si., highly appreciated the commitment of the Siak Regency Government in prioritizing higher education for the younger generation in their region. Moreover, in addition to studying at UHW Perbanas, they will also be sent for internships abroad in the 5th semester. "This year, we sent 17 Siak students for internships in Thailand last August," he revealed.
Meanwhile, Rahmad, S.I.P., stated that a total of 231 Siak students have enrolled in higher education institutions, spread across 11 campuses in Indonesia. UHW Perbanas is one of the campuses partnered with Siak Regency.
"Representatives from UHW Perbanas came to Siak to conduct entrance exams for higher education. And 26 students were selected to study here," he explained.
He also advised the students to maintain proper conduct while residing in Surabaya, similar to how students behave when living away from home. (PR)
